This Lean Yellow Belt course is an introduction to Lean. The participants will be introduced to key foundational elements of Lean – including concepts of Lean, basic tools and techniques, and the integration of Lean culture, Kaizen (rapid process improvement), Lean metrics and ideas for sustaining Lean within any organization. An online 30 question quiz that is multiple choice and select from 3 to 4 options to fill in the blank is required. A passing score is 70 out of 100 total points.

Instructor-led interactive LIVE ONLNE (via WebEx meeting) five 4-hour+/- sessions (19 hours) with breaks, or 3 days at approximately 6.5 hours contact time per session plus lunch and breaks. On-site is 3 days. Blended training is also available.

Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth will issue a certification to participants who complete the course attendance and pass the take home quiz. The certificate from Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth will be in pdf format.

Course delivery: Via WebEx with dial in toll call or Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP); headset with microphone is not provided. Classroom is typically onsite. Blended is a combination of onsite and WebEx delivery.

Materials provided: All modules are provided in pdf form for download from a drop box with participant easy access. Quiz is in WORD format and will be emailed back to the administrator. Live online lectures are recorded. These recordings are provided in the drop box for download to the participant’s computer in the event of a missed session, or for review after the lecture(s). The format is MP4 and plays on virtually any computer. Classroom sessions are NOT recorded.

Instructor / Administrator access: Access is provided via email and cell phone for the instructor and the administrator. We typically take content related questions up to 3 months beyond the course at no additional charge.

Those who need to gain an understanding of Lean, who are involved in continual improvement initiatives, or those involved in efforts to improve quality, work-flow, or process improvement.

Lean Yellow Belt explores the concepts of lean, basic tools and techniques, and the integration of lean culture, rapid process improvement, lean metrics and ideas for sustaining lean within any organization. Lean Yellow Belt consists of a variety of methods used by the lean team to improve a process. These methods include 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen to name a few. The Lean Yellow Belt is 3 days in duration due to the number of methodologies that are discussed. The Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt is a 1-day course that speaks to Waste, Lean and Six Sigma definitions. The Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology is taught and utilized to teach problem solving. Neither of these courses require a math background, although basis algebra is used in some of the sessions.

The Lean Yellow Belt test is given as a take home quiz at the end of the course. The online 30 question quiz is multiple choice. A passing score is 70 out of 100 total points.
