The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has mandated the adoption of Technology Business Management (TBM) across the Federal Government. Within this effort, OMB intends to align IT costs with the Federal budget process, while reducing the burden for agencies to comply with IT Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC) processes. Successful implementation requires leveraging authoritative data with automation and moving away from the manual, time-consuming self-reporting that currently burdens Federal agencies. Fiscal Year 2022 is the target date for full TBM implementation and leveraging TBM data for the Federal CPIC process.
