What is this course about?

Microsoft IIS 7.5 provides a flexible, extensible platform that enables developers to implement, deploy and manage Web applications with greater control. In this course, you gain practical experience with IIS 7.5 and Windows Server 2008. You build and administer a robust web server in order to implement powerful and secure Web solutions.

This course provides the essential knowledge required to manage Microsoft's IIS 7.5 enterprise Web server. You build a highly secure environment and explore the many reliability, security and scalability features of the platform. These include application pools, access control, authentication, certificates, encryption and Network Load Balancing clusters. You configure related services such as Search Server, DNS and FTP.

What are the differences between IIS 6 and IIS 7.5?

IIS has been rebuilt from the ground up. The most obvious difference is that IIS is now a componentized architecture with a completely new interface. You can select the features that you need for your organization, and only these features are installed. Configuration is done using text files and the responsibility for these can easily be delegated and managed.

My company is still using Windows Server 2003. Should I take this course?
