Certified Professional

Program Description
Microsoft Access 2007 and 2003 are powerful visual tools with which to design and develop Windows-based database applications. Using the advanced capabilities of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), developers can enhance functionality and increase user productivity, as well as take advantage of the advanced user-interface features of Access.

Three Core Courses
Choose TWO of the following Core Courses. Those working in a Microsoft Access 2007 environment should choose Courses 970 and 971. Those working in a Microsoft Access 2003 environment should choose Courses 307 and 377.

In this course, you learn to build robust database applications using Microsoft Access 2003. You also learn to develop a front-end that queries a SQL Server database over a Windows network, link to ODBC and OLE-DB data sources to leverage enterprise security and integrate macros and advanced reporting features into your applications.

This hands-on course provides experience with the features and functionality of Microsoft Access 2007. You learn to develop and support robust Access systems, manipulate and query data, develop forms, design sophisticated data analysis reports and upsize Excel spreadsheets. You gain the skills to create and integrate macros into your applications, quickly modify forms and reports with selective filtering, sorting and grouping, and link to SharePoint and SQL Server data systems.

Choose TWO of the following Core Courses. Those working in a Microsoft Access 2007 environment should choose Courses 970 and 971. Those working in a Microsoft Access 2003 environment should choose Courses 307 and 377.

In this course, you gain practical experience developing applications with Access 2003 using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). You learn to identify event properties to satisfy design specifications, modify object properties to customize applications, create VBA statements using variables and built-in functions, and integrate Access with external applications through automation.

In this course, you gain the skills necessary to develop, integrate and customize Access applications. You learn to incorporate design requirements to enhance application functionality, assemble expressions into VBA statements using variables and intrinsic functions, and apply Data Access Objects (DAO) to incorporate business rules.

This course provides a comprehensive foundation for designing, building and working with relational databases, enabling you to participate in the development process and to use a relational database to its maximum effectiveness. You learn to capture the structure of an existing database with a CASE tool, apply normalization to data for effective and stable database design, and build a relational database from the logical database design.

Elective Courses

Each Certification Program involves the successful completion of four courses - three core courses, plus one elective course, and their associated examinations.

Certifications are FREE. Exams are offered on the last day of each course. Transfer credit is available.
